In The News: Cervical Cancer
You’ve heard it in the news -- cervical cancer is probably caused by HPV.
HPV (human papilloma virus) is found in 99% of cervical cancers and is believed to
be the cause of cervical cancer. HPV is very common, found in 80% of women who have ever been sexually active.
Good News: There is now available a vaccine to prevent four of the strains of HPV (two of which are probably cancer causing and two which cause genital warts).
